This type of IT support has been very common in the IT services industry since IT support became a industry. It is also known as "Time and Materials" IT support or call out based IT support. The concept behind this type of IT support is that the customer pays for the materials as well as pays our hourly rate rate when they you a problem.  It is useful for small companies of 5 users or less who have infrequent IT problems, and when they do they can afford to be down for several hours if need-be.  It is not suitable for larger companies or in a company downtime costs the company a significant amount of money.  It is also referred to as a break-fix IT support model as something needs to break first to warrant a call out and that is not a very effective way to deal with IT

Block Hours

Block Hours is basically a way to purchase a bunch of hours upfront at an agreed price. We agree on the rate with you beforehand and you are free to use those hours when needed. We offer a discounted rate on our IT services depending on the amount of block hours taken per month. This allows you the flexibility to use the hours as you please without doing the paperwork and the hassle of paying multiple bills.  This type of IT support is good for smaller companies as it provides an overall saving on the monthly spend on IT services averaged out over time.  It is still, however, unsuitable for companies that cannot afford downtime as we are still working on a break-fix IT support model in this instance.

Managed IT Services

Managed IT Services means you will receive a list of well-defined IT services on an ongoing basis, with well-defined "response and resolution times" for a fixed rate or a flat fee per device. This includes 24/7 Monitoring of Servers, a Help desk for your daily computer issues and on-site visits by a technician when issues cannot be resolved remotely. We can also include backup and disaster recovery and server virtualisation in this service.  This is based on a managed services model, our services are proactive in nature, rather than reactive. Using managed services, IT issues are prevented before they become problems, thus reducing down-time. Because we charge a flat monthly fee to maintain your computer IT systems, rather than an hourly break-fix model, our costs are reduced when your network and IT systems are healthy.
